Privacy Policy — Robots Checker PRO

Robots Checker PRO does not collect, store, sell, or transmit any personal data. It has no backend server, no analytics, no tracking, and no accounts. All analysis happens locally, inside your browser.

What the extension accesses

  • The active tab's content, read only when you click the extension icon. It reads the page URL, its indexing-related <head> tags (robots meta tags, canonical link) and its links, to build the report shown in the popup. This stays in your browser and is discarded when the popup closes.
  • Requests to the site you are viewing. The extension fetches that site's /robots.txt, reads the current page's HTTP response headers (X-Robots-Tag and Link) and, when you press the check button, its sitemap files. These requests are issued from within the page's own context and go only to that same site.

No request is ever made to a server operated by the developer or by any third party. There is no remote logging, no error reporting service and no advertising network.

Data storage

The extension stores only your own preferences on your device: the light/dark theme, the selected crawler, whether you dismissed the toolbar-badge prompt, and the last version you saw. These are kept locally (via localStorage and chrome.storage.local) and never leave your machine.

Data sharing

No data is shared with the developer or any third party. The extension does not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to its single purpose (analysing the crawlability and indexability of the current page), and does not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

Permissions

  • activeTab / scripting: to read the current page and optionally highlight its nofollow and robots-blocked links, only on your action.
  • storage: to remember the preferences listed above.
  • tabs: to read the address of the tab being checked, which is the input to every robots.txt rule check.
  • Host access (<all_urls>) is optional, requested only if you switch on the toolbar badge, which checks each page you visit so the icon can show whether it is crawlable. Never requested on install, and revocable at any time from the Tools tab or Chrome's extension settings.
